Coconut Oil
This is one of my favorite aromatherapy carrier oils. I use the unrefined. It smells like coconuts and really makes the skin feel good, because of it's high fatty content. Unrefined or natural coconut oil can be used for both cosmetics and for cooking. (It's great in brownies.) It is solid, but it melts at 76 degrees. I use this with lavender essential oil or just alone. It has a long shelf life. The refined is is also called fractionated. It also solidifies at cool temperatures. It's nice and rich in minerals, vitamins, proteins, and fatty acids. This is a good oil for irritated skin, and it can even condition the hair. (just put a drop in your hand and a drop of lavender and rub it on your hair. Olive oil is a natural sun screen, so I like it in the summer when I'm out in the yard working on my flowers all day. It's great for dehydrated skin and it can even prevent and treat stretch marks. Talk about jack of all trades! The down side is it can be heavy, depending on what type you buy.
