In a plastic bag mix a cup of baking soda with about 40 drops of lavender essential oil or oil of your choice. Clove, cinnamon, orange, peppermint are nice also. Try any kind of essential oil you have on hand and like the smell of. Some essential oils repel insects and some are good disinfectants. Or mix a few kinds together for a designer scent.

This should be made the day before or longer so the scent can permeate the baking soda. Sprinkle on your carpet at least half a hour before you vacuum. Vacuum as usual. This is safe to use with animals and small children. Enjoy :)
